Editing and Revising Chapter Two of the Wastelands of Oz

Editing and revising Chapter Two of the Wastelands of Oz. I can;t wait to finish my edits and revision so I can submit it to a publishing company =] Do yall know that the series had fourteen books? I don;t know if I’m going to write that many sequels lol but I am definitely writing two more and already have the ideas written down for them.

How come no one ever thought to do a spin off aside from the Great and Powerful Oz movie and the Wicked book? You never know what happens to Dorothy after she grows. This book doesn’t go into detail to much of Dorothy but it still surrounds her life through her daughter’s eyes. I remember watching the Wizard of Oz over and over at the age of three. Yes, I was that little and still remember watching it and keeping my gaze for so long on the movie that my yes burned when I blinked. I was captivated by the movie and so is my daughter

Did you enjoy the first trip to the Land of Oz? How about the second? What about the 14th? There’s a new sorceress causing pandemonium in the cities and lands of Oz. Who will stop it this time? Dorothy? It’s been years since she has been to Oz. She is an elderly woman now. Then who, you might ask? Who do you think? Who would have the trips, the memories, the friends, and the adventures like Dorothy? It’s a tough question yet the answer is so simple. Who? Editing and Revising Wastelands of Oz

I’m going through the first few chapters during my edit sessions for revisions and I can tell a tremendous difference in the writing from the first chapters and the latter ones. The first few chapters I longhanded and wasspending time transcribing them to my laptop. It was a week in between transcriptions and picking back up writing again. However, during transcription, I lost the original handwritten parts and had to recreate scenes from chapters already writte. Any author knows how hard and how big of a deal this is. The newer scenes were better and more in depth, however the first chapters already transcribed seemed…cheesy compared to the rest of the written work. So, I’m going through the first chapters revising scenes and making some rather necessary changes to the main character of my book, Maryjane. I’ve stuck to the idea she didn’t know her own powers and didn’t know hot to use them. She will know she has powers but not quite grasp the usage of them but grow with them.  I thnk this is a necessary change for character development especially with it being a “coming of age” passage.I’m also doing some modifications of the original characters and make it a more original piece than just fan fiction. I hope yall will enjoy my excerpts to come and enjoy the book once it is published. =]

However, Oz is now a wasteland controlled by a new more powerful evil, the Red Sorceress, who has taken the wizard’s place and is far worse than the wicked witch of the West. Glinda’s powers are no match for the Red Soceress, so Maryjane becomes Oz’s only saving grace . Maryjane and Dorothy find battle new monsters as they search Oz for Dorothy to meet her beloved trio of friendsone last time before the cancer takes her. Meanwhile, Maryjane’s long lost love Charlie, Glinda’s son and heir to the throne of Oz, appears but is no longer who he used to be.
