The December Oak full moon is named after the mighty oak tree, which stands strong through the months of winter. The oak is a sign of strength to practitioners during the dreary winter months. There are varying associations with the symbolism of the Oak Moon such as reincarnation, eternity, hope, and clarity. The Oak Moon is a time for inward work, like shadow work, to learn, meditate, and pray. It’s a period of time to reflect back on the year but moving forward instead of ruminating in the past. Sleeping and dreaming also cast reflections from your subconscious during this time. It also recognizes cherishing our loved ones and honoring our ancestors. The climate is usually cold and snowy, which casts eerie stillness and silence among the land. What Goddess is better than the Goddess of Death herself, Maveth, the Goddess of Stillness. Rituals of success and prosperity are often associated with the colors of green and brown, the colors of the leaves, and the color trees and earth.
Maveth is a Hebraic Goddess of Judaism represented as the Parshat Bereshit. In Christian mythology, scripture says that the Lord is “The Beginning and the End, the Alpha and the Omega.” This title is a looping title of time. The Beginning was the creator of Elohim, the heavens, and the earth. Life begins and ends in Maveth. Maveth is the universe that existed prior to the first creations of being alongside of Tehom (Chaos/Primordial Waters of the Universe) and Sheol (the Primordial Womb of the Universe). It was the embrace of these two deities within the universe that sparked creation and produced desire, Yahweh. This embrace birthed life and creation, but not death. Death was already in a primordial state of rest, sleep being temporary death. The stillness of the universe was in an eternal slumber until the embrace of wind and chaos stirred Maveth from her resting state and life began to awaken in the cosmos. The universe was darkness, a great empty, a void of lackluster, silence, and gloom. Sheol is described in the same way, the eternal resting place of the soul, thereby making the universe the womb of Maveth, the womb being Sheol. She is the stardust that formed our bodies and the starfire that beamed brilliance into our soul for all energy, all matter, comes from the universe and return to the universe upon mortal death. She is the keeper of the Underworld and the keeper of the ends of the Universe.
