Spring is here and all creatures are teaming with new life, renewed vitality, and rebirth under the March Austere Moon. Nature is blooming as it pops through the warming Earth fresh and chaste. The Austere moon is a time for new beginnings and prosperity. Once known as the Death moon, and just as Death in tarot signifies change, the month of march is about not only change in nature but a change within oneself. The comforting and prosperous Goddess Allat blesses us with her pure grace this full moon.
Allat is a pre-Islamic Semitic deity associated to fertility, love, and justice. She was also recognized as a protective patroness and looked to for prosperity. Goddess of the harvest and new life, she was a Mother Goddess alongside of her consort Allah, the Islamic creator god. But like many fertility goddesses, she also was a goddess of war, although softer, by seeking justice against those that harmed others. Many called upon her for protection and revenge against those that had wronged or hurt them. Her offerings are fruit and incense.
